snorktastik

the Snorks were those playful, multicolored underwater creatures that used their built-in snorkels to dart about and make music. they were victims of outsourcing however as chinese and indian snorks played the same parts for far less money and no benefits. the chinese and indian snorks were no were near as entertaining as the originals; as the quality of the show decreased so did the audiences prompting execs to axe the show in 1988. on a lighter note they have just released a new dvd. the special 11th anniversary limited edition dvd box set, comes with stickers and a jigsaw puzzle. go out and get yourself a copy and show your support for all things belgian.

el pawnshop miami

i had an idea for a pawnshop once, one that would only deal in food, alas it was never meant to be. there is a pawnshop in Miami that really exists however, and it's almost as crazy as the one i was thinking about. it's the Butabi brothers wet dream of “lounge irreverence”, oozing with filthy class, and bohemian hipsterity, this place has it all. there’s a school bus and the fusel lodge of an airplane inside and crazy crap adorns the walls like gum sticks to hair, it’s like the designers were doing some wicked pcp/coke/ice combo; got really high then went to work on the design. there’s a halfpipe out doors for when you get really drunk and try your hand at being tony hawk, try an ollie or perhaps a 540 and break a bone in the process. don't worry you will look extemely cool and all the chiks will want you. if you are in Miami go for it, just watch out for the crackheads begging for change, this place is in the hood. directions and more info can be had @ thepawnshoplounge.com

rock n roll soldiers

"the labels wanted us to change our name," Larson-Xu said. "They didn't like the Rock 'n' Roll Soldiers. So I told them, 'Um, we're not changing our name,' and I had to write a theme song for us, so we could keep [it]. That song's called 'Anthem,' and it's probably my favorite, because it goes, 'We're the motherfucking Rock 'n' Roll Soldiers' And that's it." Talk about keeping it real, they held to their guns and didn't change their name and eventually got signed. But when the mega corporation verizon came knocking on their door with a huge check they whored themselves out quicker than deuce bigalow. it's too bad because they had a couple of kick ass choons. lets hope they don't do a colabo with pharell or worse yet with puffy in the future. for now they remain on the cusp of credibility, hopefully they'll stay on the right side. their two eps cd is out now, I would say buy it but it but theres only 2 good songs on it. maybe their upcoming full length debut album will be better, until then this album gets a cleveland steamer and a strong cell.

bape

nigo the man behind bathing ape, which is what's really hood in the urban streets of america, has been quoted as saying:
"I guess I'm not interested in [developing business in] Asia anymore. Ten or 15 years ago, the previous generation was happy just purchasing goods from the US or Europe. But my generation wants to be the creative center. We want to make what's new right here in Tokyo, and spread it to the world"
word up b. if you're down with cassidy and or the cash money click then any bape gear or footsoldier kicks are a strong buy.
